“For millions of years, human beings have been part of one tribe or another. A group needs only two things to be a tribe: a shared interest and a way to communicate.”
While this definition of a tribe comes to us from the business entrepreneur Seth Godin, it is one that is evocative of the asana practice. For thousands of years, yogis and yoginis have come together for the purpose of finding an antidote to suffering and they have communicated in ways that transcend language as we normally know it.
A tribe is a group of beings that are bound or bonded together. The asana practice brings that bond to life by helping us connect to one another and to our ancestors whomever they’ve been and however long they have lived.
During these two hours together, we will explore the forms of some of our close animal-relatives as well as embody the shape of our elders so that we can receive their wisdom as medicine.
